How Next WiFi works

Next WiFi (com.bymysidelabs.nextwifi) uses Android's VpnService to keep only the apps you select on the Wi-Fi network active when protection starts. The VPN runs locally on your device. We do not operate a VPN relay and do not collect, inspect, store, or sell packet contents, visited sites, destination addresses, DNS queries, SSIDs, BSSIDs, or your selected-app list.

Your selected-app configuration and session state stay on your device. Android backup is disabled, and uninstalling the app removes this local configuration.

Advertising

Next WiFi uses Google Mobile Ads (AdMob). Google and its partners may process advertising and device identifiers, IP-derived approximate location, app interactions, diagnostics, and ad interaction data to provide ads, measure performance, prevent fraud, and comply with law. Where required, you can review Google's consent choices again in Settings > Ad privacy choices.

We do not sell personal data or build our own cross-app advertising profile.

Analytics

Firebase Analytics may process app-instance identifiers, coarse device and app information, session and screen activity, and fixed product events so we can understand whether protection starts and ends reliably. Advertising-ID collection and ad-personalization signals are disabled for Firebase Analytics.

Our event allowlist excludes Wi-Fi names or addresses, selected or installed app names and packages, network handles, IP or DNS addresses, destinations, traffic contents, and free-form text. Analytics data follows the retention settings of our Google Analytics property and Google's service requirements.

Crash and stability diagnostics

Next WiFi may use Firebase Crashlytics to diagnose crashes, application-not-responding events, and native-code failures. Crashlytics may process stack traces, app version, operating-system and device information, memory and process state, installation identifiers, and native crash diagnostics.

We do not attach Wi-Fi names, BSSIDs, packet contents, visited sites, destinations, DNS queries, or the selected-app list to Crashlytics reports, and we do not set a user account identifier. Crash data follows the retention and deletion controls of Firebase Crashlytics and Google's service requirements.

Notifications and Firebase Cloud Messaging

Notifications are optional. On Android 13 and later, Next WiFi may request the system notification permission for Wi-Fi connection notices and important app updates. Promotional and offer notifications are a separate optional setting that is off until you turn it on. Google Firebase Cloud Messaging may process a push token and the device language to deliver enabled notices. You can turn all Next WiFi notifications off in the app, turn promotions off independently, or disable individual channels in Android settings. Denying notifications does not disable the app’s core features.

Next WiFi records only aggregate notification stages such as received, posted, and opened, together with the update or promotion category. Raw Wi-Fi names, BSSIDs, IP addresses, location, nearby network lists, and raw FCM tokens are not sent as Analytics events.

Our notification server

To deliver the in-app inbox and notices we send (updates and news, offers and promotions), we run a notification server on Cloudflare. The app registers with this server only after you turn on at least one notice setting. It sends a random installation ID created by the app, the FCM push token, your notice choices and when you changed them, the night-time setting, the app language, and the app version. The server uses your IP address only to count requests and prevent abuse, for up to 2 days.

The installation ID is not linked to any account or name. It is shown in Settings so you can copy it when you contact us. Turning off all notice settings deletes your registration from the server right away, and registrations not refreshed for 180 days are deleted automatically.

Permissions

• VPN: routes only the apps you explicitly choose through the on-device protection path.
• Network/Wi-Fi state: reads connection state, signal, link speed, and the starting Wi-Fi route.
• Notifications: shows active protection and asks what to do when the starting Wi-Fi is lost.
• Foreground service and performance requests: keeps a user-started session visible and requests bounded Wi-Fi performance support from Android.

Service providers and international processing

We use Google for advertising, analytics, and push delivery, and Cloudflare to run our notification server. Google and Cloudflare may process data outside your country. We do not share VPN traffic content or your selected-app list because we do not collect them.

Retention, access, and deletion

Local data remains until you clear app data or uninstall Next WiFi. AdMob and Firebase data follow the applicable Google service settings and legal requirements.

How to request deletion

1. Clear Next WiFi storage in Android settings or uninstall the app to delete its on-device settings.
2. For data controlled by By My Side Labs, email mark@bymysidelabs.com with the subject Next WiFi data deletion request.
3. State which data or service your request concerns. Do not send Wi-Fi passwords, packet contents, or other unnecessary sensitive information.

Next WiFi has no user accounts and does not maintain a server-side copy of VPN traffic or the selected-app list. If a request concerns data controlled directly by Google, we will explain the applicable Google deletion route. Legal or security records may be retained only when required by law or necessary to prevent abuse.

Children and changes

Next WiFi is not directed to children. We may update this policy when features, SDKs, or legal requirements change. The current version and effective date will remain on this page.
